An adventure and an inconvenience

G.K. Chesterton:"An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is only an adventure wrongly considered."

He told us about the way we see or the way we think. I notice there are two interesting things. They are an inconvenience and an adventure. Each of them has similarity. An adventure offers many challenges and so does an inconvenience. Usually I choose to involve in an adventure. I expect many challenges from an adventure, but it's different with an inconvenience. I don't expect to face inconvenience although it offers me many challenges.

This is the point. If I see an inconvenience as an adventure, there will be no negative thinking. There will always be excited feeling, so much power to face it, and plenty of motivations to carry on. :) Let's step forward.

Whom do I want to meet to?

Whom do I want to meet to?
I do idol Mr. Soekarno whom was the first president of Indonesia. I never met him before because he had passed away long ago before I was born in 1988. I was born in the Mr. Soeharto era. He was the second president of Republic of Indonesia after Mr. Soekarno government.
Even though I didn’t live in the Mr. Soekarno era, I know about Mr. Soekarno from his history. He was a great president and a great leader. He was so nationalism. He believed to Indonesian people power. He believed that the Indonesia citizens could be a great nation in the world if each people could be nationalist and struggle the sovereignty of Indonesia through our works and our love to this country. Everyone should fight out of love for their country, Indonesia.
That’s why I do idol Mr. Soekarno, even I have ever read that Mr. Mahatma Gandhi told,” In a thousand years forward, Indonesia will not have a great leader such as Soekarno.” Mr. Soekarno was so respected by many people from many nations.
If I am able to turn the time back, I am going to meet Mr. Soekarno and ask him to have discussion with me. I want to ask a lot of questions about Pancasila (or Five Principles) and his perspective about Indonesian people. Then I’m going to tell him what is happening in the Indonesian future, in this era.
I would like to listen to his opinions about Indonesia. I want to prevent Indonesia from destruction through our believing to our own potencies and power. I think Mr. Soekarno had many good ways to make Indonesian people believe in their potencies. Together, we are going to be strong. We should not make a problem of differences among us. Each person was born different to others, but it is not a problem. We are able to declare our way of thinking and act freely; nevertheless we should respect each other. We have to remember the most important thing. That is we are born as Indonesian. We should thank and proud to be Indonesian. We have the same purpose, it is serving to Indonesia.

"You can't judge the book by its cover."

“You can’t judge the book by its cover.”  I agree with this quotation. Why do I agree with it? I was thinking if no one would know obviously what inside the gift box is until we had torn the wrapper and opened the box. Before we opened the box, all we might do were guessing at. If we want to be objective while we judge somebody or something, we have to understand them then ensure our own understanding to be true not only by looking at somebody or something from their or its outward appearance. I think perceiving is better than judging.

I have experienced the pain and difficult part in my life. I met a man in the factory where I used to work a few years ago. He was a manager in the paper packaging department. His outward appearance was clean and tidy. He always wore well-ironed clothe and trouser even he also comb his hairs and polishing it in order to blacken his grey hairs. The way he walked in the factory was distinct. His outward appearance ensured me that he was a good leader, gentle, and smart. In fact, not all of my thoughts about him were truly right.

After I had conversation with him in many meetings and opportunities outside the office, finally I understood who he really was. He was stubborn person and rarely listened his employees’ difficulties in their work. He was easy to be angry and often spoke rude words to people especially to them who did wrong depended upon his opinion. He was abusive even in the middle of meeting. I was thinking that being angry or blaming somebody in front of many people would embarrass the person whom was being blamed. It was not gentle and smart way to communicate with people.

I'm falling in love
Singer: Tompi

Gaun merah di tubuhmu
Membuatmu tak biasa
Keindahan senyummu
Membuat aku tak kuasa

Menahan gejolak
Yg ada di dalam dada
Jantung ku berdetak kencang
Hei cantik kau sungguh menggoda

Reff:
Somebody please stop the moon from falling down
Because I’m falling in love tonight
Somebody please stop the moon from falling down
Because I’m falling in love with you
[2x]

Bolehkah aku bertanya
Siapa namamu hai dara
Jangan takut padaku
Aku hanya jatuh cinta
Inikah yg orang bilang
Cinta pandangan pertama
Tadinya ku tak percaya
Tapi kurasakan juga

Repeat reff

Just to be with you

 Just to be with you

 Singer: Tompi

If I could paint this world
It will be so colorful
Everyday I spend my whole lifetime
Loving you

After all that I have
No where else could be
Other than with you babe
Just to be with you

In my heart, I'm so sure
You're the only one
I found it very hard
To stay away

I wanna be with you
I just wanna be with you
Just to be with you

Joining MAPASADHA

Joining MAPASADHA (a short story)

Last January, my brothers, sisters, and I joined Basic Education of Nature Lover for college student. This basic education was organized by MAPASADHA. MAPASADHA is an organization which is active in nature activities. MAPASADHA is an abbreviation for Mahasiswa Pecinta Alam Sanata Dharma. This basic education must be had and passed by us or whosoever wants to join MAPASADHA.

Everyone who is being MAPASADHA member candidate should consider and treat other candidates as brother or sister. We aren’t allowed to consider other as a friend. Besides that, we whether candidate or member have our own jungle name. The senior made the jungle names. For example, my name is Damar and my jungle name is Silis. We use jungle name in order to make each of us equal. The senior told us, our jungle name makes us equal although we are actually different. We came from different background. We have special character or exclusive personality, even we also have different name. But, in MAPASADHA we made for one another. For me, jungle name makes us closer and it’s able to decrease our awkwardness and ashamed to other. That is the reason why I didn’t write my friends and I joined Basic Education of Nature Lover for college student. (Please, notice the first sentence in the first paragraph)

Before we joined basic education, we had been prepared with pre-basic education. Pre-basic education was done in three sessions. Each session took 2 days. We did pre-basic education in the weekend and in the different place for every pre-basic education. The first pre-basic education had been taken place at Klangon in Merapi mountain. The second pre-basic education had been taken place at 2 different places, first place was at Selokan Mataram (Mataram sewer) in Jogjakarta and the second one was at Babarsari in Jogjakarta. We did our second pre-basic education under Babarsari Bridge. The last pre-basic education had been taken place at 2 different places as well. The first place was at Cermai cave in Wonosari in Jogjakarta, then it continued at Parangndog high side near Parangndog beach in Bantul in Jogjakarta.

We moved from one place to other place on foot. The distance between Cermai cave and Parangndog high side is approximately 20 km. In the second pre-basic education we went on foot from Mrican (second campus of Sanata Dharma University) to under Babarsari Bridge. When we went to Selokan Mataram (Mataram sewer) from Mrican by a rental car because we brought a rubber boat for rafting at Selokan Mataram. We called it Mataram sewer but it was actually a river which was built since Mataram kingdom government.

We learnt mountain jungle and navigation in the first pre-basic education. We also learned how to make fire camp, how to cook in the jungle, and how to build bivouauc and natural bivouauc. We started learning how to build natural bivouauc in second pre-basic education. The materials of second pre-basic education were about rafting and building natural bivouauc. We used at least 2 raincoats to build bivouauc. In order to build natural bivouauc, we needed wood, branches, and foliage. So, bivouauc is different to natural bivouauc. In the last pre-basic education, we learnt all about cave (including kind of rocks in the cave and kind of creatures) and how to do rock climbing and how to use rock climbing gears. We did rock climbing at Parangndog high side.

Before we did pre-basic education, we had had a class to learn 8 materials. Those materials were about MAPASADHA organization, nature lover, and management of journey, mountain hiking, navigation, jungle survival, first aid, and ESAR (Explore, Search, and Rescue). MAPASADHA organization and nature lover were about organization acquaintances. The other 6 materials were important knowledge for living and surviving in the jungle.

This scheme of admission of MAPASADHA member had been begun on September 12th, 2012. This all admission process lasted in inauguration day on Februari 3rd, 2013 at Ungaran mountain in Central Java. There are 9 survivors from 15 candidates. Nine of them are Gacer, Berok, Celnah, Lacuk, Brontok, Bidur, Jeron, Sikur, and Silis. They who fell in admission process of MAPASADHA are Tikek, Loang, Kencet, Pektay, Pantet, and Kocer. But once we met, learnt, and started this process together, we are still brother and sister for one another.
